Every set I've taken has some that I love and some that I disgard at first sight. It's not always a technical issue, sometimes it just lacks depth or feels off, so I move on. In the case of these, some were blurred in a way I didn't want, others didn't have people facing the right way or things misfocused. Now I find those aspects are what make me like them, even love them.
I wasn't paying attention and focused on the wrong thing, at the time I was annoyed, it was meant to be a photo of Marshall, but instead it was focused on the street. Now I love it, glancing off into the distance, it shows me being distracted.
I'd been trying to get a photo where you could see the wings, I was too focused on that to see the charm of this image. Now I like that the wings blur, showing movement, adding to the moment rather than taking away from it.
I don't remember what we were talking about here, Xander and I can go through a lot of topics in one conversation. He looked away as I snapped this, it wasn't that I didn't like it, but that I was more focused on a front facing shot. In the end I went with this one, it makes me ask questions about what was on his mind in that moment.
This was another that was overlooked, there were other more animated moments in this set, but now when I look at this one I appreciate the calmness of it. A relaxed man, enjoying a drink and chat with friends.
This one was meant to be fact on, but kids never look up when you want them to, what can you do. Looking at it later I loved the way they're focusing on their shared task, in their own little world.
I'll dig out some more soon, I think it's good sometimes, to come away from your work and go back to it with fresh eyes.
