Without Us - Previous Project

So this is a fairly old project, that I still occasionally play with in the background, here you'll see a few sets from pre-Covid, and then the Covid sets that came from there.

This started with a fascination with the set of 28 Days Later, it can't have been easy to get the roads clear, if I remember rightly, they did not have the budge to close streets so lots of it had to be done in the early hours etc. I assume they must have been able to close some, because otherwise I have questions about that bus... But I digress, I love that film and the eery feeling that comes from a city that should be busy, that is busy most of the time. This led to some photos from my home town, then on a trip to Pisa (before my first DLSR) and subsequently when we went to Menorca (when I had my first DSLR). Lastly, but definitely not least, are the Covid photos, the first set was published in the Hampshire Chronicle and was still very much in the style of the first few sets. However, the longer I wandered the empty streets (I was a keyworker), the more a paid attention to unnerving silence that fell over restaurants and bars, places that should be busy, place that were definitely not dead at 3pm on a Saturday, if you get my meaning.

I've separated them out into 3 sets, pre-Covid, early lockdown and later in lockdown.

Set 1 - Winchester, Pisa and Menorca - pre-Covid "Without Us" photos.

To be honest, I am not a fan of the Pisa ones, but that is more because I think I could do a much better job. One day maybe I can go back and try again.

During lockdown I revisited the concept.

And this led to my favourite of the lot, the Lockdown project using reflections and black and white images.
