Despite loving writing, especially fiction I'm not great at introductions, but if you bear with me, I'll do my best.
I'm rapidly approaching middle age, a psychology graduate, and fascinated by how we form our identities. While my psychology interest is more focused on what we eat, why and how that relates to our mental health, I'll save that for another day.
I started taking pictures as a teenager, I wasn't very good, and with small film cameras I often didn't get to see my failed attempts until I developed the shots, not that this stopped me from trying. This was obviously done by dropping my film into Boots to be developed, I didn't know anything about developing film myself and didn't have access to the relevant equipment. It wasn't something I took overly seriously, and I didn't really think about my camera type until around 2007 when I got a Minolta off ebay for about £30. Unfortunately that camera is no longer with us, but I do have a few of the pictures left.
I enjoyed capturing images of people interacting, but I wasn't confident in my abilities.
I do miss that camera. I now use Canon DSLRs, an 1100d and an M50, they both have their appeal, and I am known to take both out with me, just in case.
I started doing street photography once I had my 1100d, which gradually led to some simple portrait work. I had help from other photographers and even attempted to become a part of a camera club, though I never felt like I fit. I'll tell you some of that next time, I'll even share some photos. In the mean time, I'm going to scour eBay for another Minolta….
